What I’m Learning Through Hands-On IT Projects

Through my Information Technology coursework at DePaul University, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of hands-on projects involving web development, programming, databases, networking, and other technical areas. These projects have helped me better understand how concepts from class can be applied in practical situations.

One of the biggest things I have learned is the importance of working through problems step by step. Whether I am building a website, writing code, working with a database, or troubleshooting a technical issue, each project gives me more experience with problem-solving and helps me become more comfortable using different technologies.

As I continue working through my degree, I want to keep building on these experiences and improving my technical skills. I plan to use this portfolio to document some of the projects I complete and show the progress I make as I prepare for a career in Information Technology.

One project that gave me hands-on experience with web development was a fictional supplement website I created using React. The site included multiple pages and interactive features, and I used reusable components, React state, event handling, and data stored separately from the main application code. Working on this project helped me better understand how React applications can be structured and how interactive content can respond to user actions.
